My Doula Services
My Services
- Free Consultation. I offer a free, thirty minute consultation to prospective clients, answering questions they have about what I do as a doula, about pregnancy, and about childbirth.
- Phone & Email Support. I am always just a quick text, e-mail, or phone call away, as I offer 24 hour telephone support as well as timely e-mail responses to clients throughout pregnancy and in the weeks following delivery.
- 2 Prenatal Visits. I visit you in the comfort of your home to discuss any concerns you have, to to go over your birth plan, and to prepare for your child's birth by reviewing comfort measures and getting to know one another.
- During Labor. When labor commences, I meet you where you are, whether thats in your home or at the hospital. I provide physical comfort using techniques designed to help laboring mothers, and emotional support to both mother and partner.
- Baby’s First Feeding Support. After your baby's birth, I stay with you until everyone is comfortable and ready for some family time. While I am there, I help mom latch baby to the breast to feed for the first time.
- Postpartum Follow-Up Visit. Once everyone is comfortably settled in at home, I schedule up to two postpartum visits to check in and make sure everyone is doing well. At these visits I can answer questions new parents might have about their newborn, and offer references to needed resources.
- Community Resources. I keep a list of resources that I can recommend based on your specific needs. From Chiropractors to Lactation Consultants, I can help get you in contact with specialists and extra support as needed.
As A Doula, I Do Not:
- Perform Any Clinical Tasks. My scope of practice does not include any tasks clinical in nature. I will not monitor blood pressure or peform cervical checks. These tasks will be performed by your Doctor, Nurse, or Midwife as I provide you with physical comfort and emotional support.
- Make Decisions For You. One of my priorities is supporting you in making informed decisions about your care and your child's birth. I can ask questions and supply you with information and resources to assist you in coming to decisions, but I cannot make those decisions for you.
- Speak to the Staff on Your Behalf. During labor, I aim to facilitate communication between you and the medical staff, and to support you in advocating for yourself, but I cannot communicate for you.
- Project Any of My Own Beliefs onto Your Experience. I am not here to judge you or your decisions. I care about helping you to have a positive experience, and I believe that is best accomplished by supporting you in achieving your goals.Whether you are planning to have an epidural in a hospital, or birth without pain medication in your home, I am here to help you
